Contract
C-26002 Construction of portion of the Second Avenue Subway
This
New York City Transit/MTA Capital Construction project
for $337,025,000 in Manhattan, is New York City’s
first major expansion of the subway system in over 50
years. This project was named the “greatest New
York Project that never was built” since it has
been in the planning stages and has broken ground several
times since 1920. Finally, it has come to fruition and,
when fully completed, the line will stretch 8.5 miles
along the length of Manhattan's East Side. The project
consists of constructing a 65’ to 70’ wide
by 810’ long structural box beneath 2nd Avenue,
two tunnel bores emanating from this structural box, one
mid-tunnel pump station and two shafts. All of this work
is to be completed in 40 months. Schiavone is a partner
in the Joint Venture, S3 Tunnel Constructors, consisting
of Skanska Civil USA Northeast, Inc. as the managing partner,
and partner J. F. Shea Construction Inc.
